All 34 Holiday Regions in Tyrol from the Achensee to the Zugspitzarena

Paznaun - Ischgl

In the western region of Tyrol, the high-alpine region of the Paznauntal valley stretches over 40 kilometres. The valley at high altitudes is internationally renowned with famous skiing hot-spots such as Ischgl, Galtür, Kapp, See and Pians. With more than 200 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes the Silvretta-Arena Ischgl-Samnaun offers skiers and snowboarders amazing fun in the snow all the way across the Swiss borders. Winters spent in the Paznaun clearly shows why this region is so famous and popular with such fun après ski bars, a unique atmosphere, and fantastic skiing conditions. This region usually has exceptional snow conditions in all four of the ski resorts due to the unusual geography of this area.

During summer this sunny valley boasts a rather dry climate and offers ideal conditions for wonderful hikes, climbing tours, and mountain bike trips, especially from the alpine village Galtür, which is situated at 1,600 metres above sea-level. The Silvretta bike arena is a spectacular playground for all bike enthusiasts with a wide range of single-trail routes and other exciting bike paths to explore. The Paznaun valley stretches from the Bieler Höhe with the Silvretta reservoir lake on the Vorarlberg side to the south-west, is surrounded by majestic mountains including 3,000-metre-high giants of the Samnaungruppe and Silvretta mountain range to the south, and also has the Verwallgruppe mountain range adding to the stunning setting in the north.

The Silvrettasee lake offers guests an unusual surprise with a boat service at 2,000 metres above sea-level. The barge boat, like the ones in Amsterdam, offers the highest altitude boat trips in all of Europe. This area is fantastic for all mountain climbers and hikers, but also very suitable for all bikers. With thrilling single-trails and charming routes crossing the borders into Switzerland you can enjoy exercise and the spectacular landscape. For all motivated sportsmen and sportswomen, the annual Ischgl Ironbike in August may be a welcomed challenge as it is known as the toughest mountain bike marathon in all of Europe with more than 3,820 metres in altitude to conquer.
