To the south of Tyrol's capital city Innsbruck, the picturesque Wipptal valley with its 5 charming side valleys charms guests with a spectacular alpine landscape nestled between the Stubai and Tux Alps. The charming holiday villages are very traditional Tyrolean villages allowing an extra special Tyrolean experience for all visitors. This region is ideal for all guests who enjoy hiking, mountaineering, biking, skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, and want to return from a delightful day in the mountains and take some time to truly relax in the tranquillity of the villages Gries, Gschnitz, Matrei, Mühlbachl, Navis, Obernberg, Pfons, Schmirn, St. Jodok, Steinach, Trins and Vals. The Wipptal gradually ascends 33 kilometres to the Brenner Pass, which is the Austrian-Italian border, and the valley then stretches all the way to Italy, almost to the city of Brixen.

The low altitude of this pass has allowed travellers to cross the mountains for centuries. In Steinach am Brenner, the main village of the Wipptal, the fantastic ski resort Bergeralm offers exciting skiing and snowboarding fun at up to 2,200 metres above sea-level. This resort is easily accessible from Steinach, and delights as a very snow-reliable and family-friendly ski area with spectacular views from the top. Seven ski lifts allow skiers and snowboarders to explore the area and the slopes range in every level of difficulty. An absolute highlight for the entire family is the 5-kilometre-long toboggan track, which will be enjoyed by all. This region offers different delightful cross-country ski tracks to explore, and ski mountaineers can venture out and find untouched powder slopes. The Sattelberg mountain near Gries is especially popular with all ski mountaineers.

The holiday region Wipptal and the fantastic valleys branching off the main valley are fantastic areas for all active holiday makers during summer. The villages of Vals and St. Jodok im Valsertal are renowned as the most elite mountaineer's villages in all of Tyrol. Starting from these villages, all mountain explorers can conquer some of the most spectacular and challenging alpine tours, such as the tour up to the Tux main ridge and its main peak, the Olperer at 3,476 metres above sea-level. For some well-deserved rest and relaxation, the tranquil Valsertal valley offers charming alpine villages and a very relaxed pace of life in a spectacular setting in the heart of alpine nature. This area is ideal for all hikers, mountaineers, and climbers, just as the Obernbergtal valley, which is also a true paradise for all hikers and mountain bikers. A fantastic highlight and true gem of nature is the crystal-clear Obernberger lake. This lake is popular with photographers, especially during the beautiful season of autumn. The Gschnitztal valley is home to idyllic Rhaeto-Romanic alpine villages which are suited as delightful base camps for hiking adventures, such as the wonderful hike up to the Blaser mountain renowned as the mountain with the most flowers in all of Tyrol.
