This region is renowned as a fantastic holiday region for cross-country ski enthusiasts. With gentle hills, wide fields, and perfectly groomed tracks, guests can ski along the beautiful winter landscape while marvelling at the backdrop of the majestic Wilder Kaiser mountain range. This spectacular view can be enjoyed on the ski slopes as well, making every descent special. The beautiful mountainous landscape of the Kaiserwinkl region is a wide valley nestled between the Wilder Kaiser mountain range and the Chiemgau Alps. During spring, summer, and autumn this holiday region is the perfect setting for hiking, biking, riding, and golf enthusiasts. On hot summer days, the picturesque Walchsee lake is ideal for a refreshing dip at 24° C, and so is the outdoor swimming pool in Kössen.

The largest town in the Kaiserwinkl region is Kössen, at a population of 4,200. This charming town encourages the upkeep of generation-old farmhouses with lovely traditional decorative paintings on the outer walls. Kaiserwinkl includes the villages of Rettenschöss, Schwendt, and Walchsee in its lovely holiday region in the Tyrolean "Unterland" area. The quaint villages of Rettenschöss and Schwendt offer a relaxed holiday in the stunning alpine setting and both honour their traditions and include 800-year-old farmhouses in their villages.

The beating heart of this holiday region is the idyllic Walchsee lake. This naturally formed lake is a wonderful swimming lake, and is also very popular for water sports activities. The village located at the lake is called Walchsee as well, and guests can enjoy their summer swimming, water-skiing, surfing, sailing, fishing, or exploring on a pedalboat. There is a lot of fun to be had in Tyrolean nature here. For a change of pace, the Tiroler Ache river offers the perfect setting for kayaking and rafting tours. In addition to all the fun in the water, the Kaiserwinkl region is a true hiking and biking paradise. With a large network of marked trails, there are tours suited for every skill level. No matter if you want to climb to the top of a mountain or want to enjoy a family-friendly day in the mountains, this region has it all. Guests can even walk or bike across the boarder to Germany into Bavaria. With numerous riding stables and golf courses in this area, there are many of fun activities to enjoy.

During the colder months of winter, all ski and snowboard enthusiasts can enjoy the first-class ski resorts Hochkössen and Zahmer Kaiser, and many more ski resorts are located nearby. Cross-country skiers can enjoy many kilometres of groomed tracks in this region, with lots of cross-country ski centres playing an important part in the Kaiserwinkl region. Winter activities also include ski mountaineering, snowshoe-hiking, winter walking, horse-drawn carriage rides, and tobogganing, which is always exciting and great fun.

One of the many events in this region is the "Alpine Ballooning" week in January. Colourful hot air balloons sore through the air and, with the backdrop of the snowy mountains of the Kaiserwinkl, offer a spectacular sight.
